Beyond of Goodbyes

No one talks about grief, well at least in my family. Death feels so sudden. How can a person be the cause of a heartbreak yet is the one that will completely heal you at the same time? Maybe because we aren’t able to say goodbye? But do farewells necessarily mean the ending? Sometimes, it feels impossible to turn the page in the book of life, especially when you know someone you love won’t be part of the next chapter. At first, accepting the reality of loss feels impossible. But time—as unforgiving as it may seem—eventually helps us mend. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting; it means learning to carry the pain differently. Dr. Seuss once wrote, “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” Those words resonate with me now more than ever. I used to look forward to Christmas —the spirit of giving, the warmth, the busy preparations, the bittersweet nostalgia. The joy of those moments filled my heart in ways I didn’t fully appreciate.
